Careers
“Plan for the future because that's where you are going to spend the rest of your life.”
Mark Twain, American writer
Young people today have more choice about what to do in their future. It is more critical than ever that we work with our students to develop the skills, attitudes and knowledge needed to be successful in the current working environment. Our aim is to provide parents, carers and our students with independent, impartial advice to allow the young people in our care to make well-informed, realistic decisions about their future and plan accordingly.
Much of our career work is done through Personal Development & Careers lessons (PD&C), with modules being taught in every year group. The opportunities to develop these skills are numerous and varied across all year groups.Careers programme
We believe that developing employability skills is critical to ensuring that students are prepared for the workplace. As a result, all Year 10 and Year 12 students will undertake a work experience placement. This allows them to develop (and also evidence) the vital transferable skills which future employers are looking for.
There are a wide number of additional activities planned to prepare our students for the world of work, such as mock interviews in Year 11 as well as career interviews that take place from years 10 to 13. We have a registered Level 6 Careers Advisor Team (Progress Careers) available to support students and parents with information, advice and guidance. Further information can be requested via the following methods; via email from daintyl@elizabethan.notts.sch.uk or telephone 01777 713700 ext 58.
The school measures and assesses the impact of the careers programme on pupils through the Gatsby Benchmarks and assessments are carried out three times a year.
The member of SLT with overall responsibility for Careers is Mr L Dainty - daintyl@elizabethan.notts.sch.uk or 01777 713700 ext 58.
