Current timings (2025/2026 academic year):

School is open to students from 8am, and we would ask people not to arrive before then as there is no supervision available.  The kitchens open at 8.am, and serve a variety of breakfast; should students prefer to eat in school rather than at home. Many schools have condensed their lunch breaks into 25 or 30 minutes.  However, we realise that many of our students are reliant on school buses to return home from school and lunch is their only opportunity to take part in clubs and extra-curricular activities.

School finishes at 3.15pm apart from on Wednesday when we finish at 2.30pm.  Buses collect from the bus park directly outside of school, and students are supervised while they wait.  There is always a senior member of staff on duty until the last bus leaves.

This equates to a total time in school of 32hrs 10 mins.

Timings from September 2026:

In line with the DfE ambition that all schools operate for a minimum of 32 hours and 30 minutes per week, we are required to extend our school week. Our current school week is 32 hours and 10 minutes, so we must increase this by 20 minutes from September 2026.

To achieve this, every day will start at 8:40am and finish at 3:10pm.

These adjustments follow consultation and discussions with parents, students, staff and the wider community. 

The additional time helps us to retain and enhance our unique curriculum offer, including:

• An enrichment period during the school day for every student on a Wednesday
• Weekly PSHE sessions covering British Values, careers, digital and media literacy, financial literacy, the rule of law, Relations and Sex Education, and other core topics
• Weekly reading and interventions in Key Stage 3
• Additional Science teaching in Year 10
• A weekly assembly for each year group
