Teacher of MFL

Teacher of Modern Foreign Languages (MFL)

(depending on experience)

September 2021 or later

Job share 0.2 – 0.8 FTE

The Elizabethan Academy is a successful 11-19 Academy, with sixth form. Students and staff benefit from the excellent facilities. We are looking for an individual to share our commitment and determination to providing a learning environment that enables all young people to thrive. We have all-encompassing professional development opportunities with a structured path to enable career progression. This includes secondments at other schools in the East Midlands and formal leadership coaching. We work closely with our feeder primary schools and the successful candidate will have scope for working across the phase. We are also part of the Redhill Teaching Alliance. We are also a "Brilliant School" and are working towards the Wellbeing Award for Schools.

The successful candidate will join a hardworking, forward thinking and supportive department. This exciting post in our Modern Foreign Languages Faculty would suit an NQT as well as a more experienced applicant and will initially be recruited on a fixed term. We are ideally looking for a September start but could delay this for the right candidate.

This is a job share position from either a 0.2 up to 0.8 FTE. We could consider candidates with experience of working with children and extensive languages experience who could undertake this role as an unqualified teacher.

The Academy also has an off-site alternate provision centre at the beautiful Idle Valley Nature reserve. We are looking to extend our curriculum offer there which could provide the success candidate with an exciting opportunity to be involved in something different.

Our ideal candidate will:

  • be passionate about teaching MFL and committed to achieving excellent results for their students
  • have the ability to teach KS3 to KS5
  • demonstrate high levels of ambition and optimism regarding what the academy and its students can achieve
  • have the resolve to make a real difference to the lives of pupils
  • be committed to the Academy’s ethos of high expectations with no excuses

The candidate will be experienced in teaching French and Spanish. An ability to teach a second subject would be an advantage but is not essential.

The Academy is committed to equality of experience for all staff and students.  We operate safer recruitment, robust child protection procedures and require evidence of DBS clearance for all employees. Checks will also be made with previous employers.  For application assistance please contact HR Manager Helen Upson on 01777 713705, otherwise please submit your completed application to by the deadline below.
