Tom Crowther Joins The Elizabethan Academy as New Principal
The Elizabethan Academy is pleased to welcome Tom Crowther this September as the new Principal. Tom joins the Academy with a commitment to upholding and enhancing the school's dedication to academic excellence and student development.
In his first communication to parents and guardians last week, Tom expressed his enthusiasm for his new role and outlined his vision for the Academy: "I am honoured to introduce myself as the new Principal of The Elizabethan Academy, and I extend a warm welcome to you and your family."
Tom emphasised his commitment to building on the strong foundations already in place at the Academy. He aims to foster an educational environment where every student is supported academically, socially, and emotionally.
Tom is keen to work in close partnership with parents, the dedicated staff, governors, and the broader community. He believes that collaboration and open communication with parents are essential to providing the best possible educational experience for each student.
"I look forward to fostering curiosity, creativity, and a love of learning in every student. Together, we can ensure your child has the best possible experience, both inside and outside the classroom."
Tom joins The Elizabethan Academy after having a significant impact on achievement and outcomes at a large secondary school in Derbyshire.
“I came into education because I love teaching. There is something magical about helping students discover their unique skills and talents. It is crucial that we do everything we can to support every student in securing fantastic outcomes that will enable them to access the very best opportunities in life. We also need to remember that learning is incredibly powerful just for its own sake.
"I have three sons of secondary school age who are very quick to tell me about the pressures of school! It is important that we listen to young people so that we can provide the very best education for them while navigating the immense social challenges they face. I am determined to ensure that every student has a love of learning and looks forward to coming to school each day."
Dr. Derek Cheetham, Chair of Governors, commented, “We are delighted to have appointed Tom to the post of Principal at The Elizabethan. His arrival at the Academy is the culmination of a rigorous recruitment process, and in Tom, we have found someone who will build on the work that our retiring Principal, Chris Horrocks, has done to make our school what it is today. Tom will challenge students and staff to achieve even greater success, while staying true to our strongly held values and ethos. Governors were unanimous in their decision to appoint Tom, and we look forward to working with him over the coming years.”
Tom is eager to meet with parents and the community in the coming weeks and months. He encourages parents and members of the community to share any thoughts or concerns as the school year progresses, emphasising the importance of working together to achieve the best outcomes for students.
The Elizabethan Academy is excited about the future under Tom's leadership and looks forward to a successful academic year ahead.
