Updates for January 2022

A summary of the changes following updated government guidance.

The government has issued further guidance to schools around Covid-19 over the last couple of days.  Below is a summary of those changes:

  1. Face Coverings - Students are now required to wear face coverings in classrooms.  This is in addition to the previous measures requiring their use in communal areas and on school transport.  Please could all students bring a face covering with them on their return to the Academy.  Should any child forget a face covering at any point, heads of house have a limited supply available.
  2. Testing – You should have received an appointment time via email on 22 December.  If you have not received an appointment time, please get in touch via the email address below.  The schedule is detailed below:

Remote lessons

  1. Remote Learning – To allow sufficient time for testing, students will be returning as detailed above.  Up to and including the day of their test, lessons will be conducted via Microsoft Teams.  Students not able to access lessons remotely should come to the assembly hall on Wednesday 5 January at 08:30 where they will receive their lateral flow test and then access lessons on site.  Where this is the case, please let us know by completing this form.
  2. Self-Isolation Period – The self-isolation advice for people with coronavirus (COVID-19) has changed. You can stop self-isolating after 7 days if you do a rapid lateral flow test on days 6 and 7 of your self-isolation period and:
    • both tests are negative
    • you did both tests at least 24 hours apart
    • you do not have a high temperature
    • the tests are recorded on The Elizabethan Academy Reporting Form.  To make things as simple as possible, this form requires students to log in using their academy email address and password.  Their email address is the same as the username they use to access the academies computer network followed by "@elizabethan.notts.sch.uk".

If you do a rapid lateral flow test on day 6 and test positive, wait 24 hours before you do the next test.

  1. Vaccinations - Vaccinations in schools are coordinated by the school aged immunisation service.  As soon as we receive an update regarding any further vaccinations in the academy, we will communicate this with you.

If you need any help, need to report a confirmed/suspected case or have any other queries, please contact us at covid@elizabethan.notts.sch.uk.  You may also wish to contact your child’s form tutor.
