SEND
Our strategic Director of SEND is Ms Ager. Miss Bryant is Head of SEND and our assistant SENCo is Mrs Wheatley.
The Learning Support team works with individuals and groups of students based on their needs. A range of interventions are available, across the four broad areas of need:
- Cognition and Learning
- Social Emotional and Mental Health
- Communication and Interaction
- Physical and Sensory
The interventions are created/delivered according to feedback from staff/student/parent voice activities. Please contact us to find out which interventions are running at any given time.
Learning Support also offer enhanced transition experiences. Please contact us if you wish to discuss what we can offer.
For students with SEND at The Elizabethan Academy, we collaborate with students and parents/carers to create individual Pupil Passports and Learning Plans.
Where can I find more information or advice?

The Nottinghamshire Local Offer provides information for children and young people with special educational needs (SEND) and their parents or carers in a single place, making it clear and accessible. Nottinghamshire Local Offer includes leisure and activity providers, health and care services, education providers and support groups.
The link to the local offer page is: https://www.nottshelpyourself.org.uk/kb5/nottinghamshire/directory/localoffer.page?newdirectorychannel=9
The school SEND offer is the inclusive, accessible provision which supports children with special educational needs and disability to thrive and this can be found on the Local Offer mainstream secondary education page.
As a fully inclusive school, The Elizabethan Academy is committed to identifying and providing for the needs of all students. Every teacher is a teacher of every child or young person including those with SEND; and all staff are trained in and adhere to our model of good practice.
Students are recognised as individuals, with abilities and development needs which will vary across the curriculum. Class teachers and support staff are able to identify individual development requirements, and to provide lessons and activities which ensure progress at all levels of ability.
If you have any queries or concerns about the support school provides, please contact one of the SEND team in the first instance via the office/reception. If you are unable to resolve any concerns, then please see our Complaints Policy.
