Supporting Your Year 11 Child with Exam Preparation

Year 11 is a crucial time, and your support can make a big difference in helping your child feel confident and prepared for their GCSE Maths exams. Here are some practical steps and resources:

1. Use the Question Level Analysis (QLA)

  • Every student has received a QLA document, which highlights their strengths and areas for improvement based on recent assessments.
  • The QLA includes Sparx codes for targeted practice. Encourage your child to focus on the topics where they scored lower.

2. Recommended Online Resources

These platforms provide excellent revision materials, practice questions, and video tutorials:

  • Sparx Maths – Students already use Sparx for homework. Use the codes from the QLA to access specific topics.
  • Corbett Maths – Great for revision videos, practice questions, and the famous “5-a-day” tasks.
  • Maths Genie – Offers free GCSE worksheets, exam questions by topic, and past papers.
  • MME Revise – Provides revision guides, practice papers, and topic-based questions.

3. Weekly Revision Timetable

Here’s a simple timetable template you can populate with topics from the QLA and resources above:
